Yesterday (8/15/20) at around noon, we came across this food truck on Golden Gate Park near the bandshell by the Verdi statue. There was no line. We went all vegetarian. We had 2 orders of kofta ($9/order), our first time eating this dish, and an order of samosas ($4 for 2 pcs). A kofta is a ball of tasty pressed vegetables, about the size of a golf ball, covered in a cashew coconut curry. Each order came with two kofta balls with basmati rice, a bit of spring greens, and freshly baked naan. The samosas were large and tasty with tamarind sauce and mint sauce. Taste = Delicious! We would definitely order again. Food temperature = Hot Spiciness = Mild Service = Friendly and efficient Setting = Beautiful Golden Gate Park. We ate on a shaded bench in front of the bandshell perfectly social distanced.

Given that food trucks are haute cuisine in their own right these days, it should be no surprise that some of the best Indian food I have had in the city has come by vehicular means. The samosas from Annakoot were large, piping hot, and served with a delicious tamarind chutney that cut the spice of the samosas nicely. The shrimp is also the best I've had from a restaurant that does not specialize in seafood.

This is for the Annakoot location in front of the Ferry building: I was walking back from the gym, minding my own business and ran into Annakoot in front of the ferry building. In the battle of salad v. Samosa - Samosa won (it almost always does..) so I went to get an order of samosas. Plot twist; as I'm ordering I see the ad for the Murgh Biryani and ended up deciding on that instead as I said goodbye to my caloric deficit for the day. I was really pleasantly surprised by this biryani. The chicken was really tender (nothing worse than dry chicken in a biryani) perfectly seasoned - restaurant quality biryani, if not better than a lot of restaurants. Not too greasy, but really packed a lot of flavor. Bonus points for coming with a side container of yogurt. Not sure what I was expecting, but I def had a moment at my first couple bites with this biryani. I would have taken a pic, but by the time I remembered it was already gone.... They did not skimp on the meat - plenty of chicken, and the portion size is pretty big (I hadn't had bfast so I was ready) with sort of carmelized onions on top. Flavorful, but not spicy for those who can't handle the heat. Pricier than other things on the menu (13), but absolutely worth it. Keep that Murgh biryani on the menu and I'll def keep coming back! I've had one prior experience with Annakoot when I actually followed through and got samosas. They were two nicely sized samosas with chutneys. They hold up. But if you're hungry, definitely go for the biryani.
